Narrative of the Young Shepherd

In the heart of the enchanting rolling hills, resided a boy named Shepherd. His existence was mostly pure, simple, and honest. His only responsibility was to look after his herd of sheep.

Their soft bleating and the rustling of the gales through the read more lone tree on the mountaintop were his only companions. Day upon day, guarding his wards imbued in him a feeling of quiet fulfillment.

Yet, there were the occasional moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would pine for companionship. In one such instance because of sheer monotony, the shepherd boy orchestrated a naughty scheme.

Stories of predators prowling on sheep had long been circulating in the village. So, the boy chose to leveraged this fear and played a trick on the inhabitants.

One afternoon he raced into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is that has taken my sheep!” The scared villagers sprinted up the hills to offer assistance but discovered nothing threatening.

The boy chuckled at the confusion on their faces. This game persisted for a few days more. Yet, one noon, a real wolf did attack the flock. The shepherd boy dashed for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he returned to the town only to be met with a reprimand on honesty and the results of crying wolf.
